Veteran actress Neena Gupta has always been known for her candid opinions and ability to adapt to changing times in the film industry. In a recent interview, the 64-year-old actress opened up about how impressed she is with the younger generation of actors and their immense confidence.
“They are bloody confident!” Gupta remarked, expressing admiration for how today’s young performers carry themselves on set. Instead of offering advice to them, she believes that the learning process has reversed. “I think they should advise me,” she said with a laugh, acknowledging that the new-age actors bring a fresh approach and a bold attitude to their craft.

Gupta, who made a strong comeback with Badhaai Ho (2018) and has since been a part of several acclaimed projects like Panchayat and Shiv Shastri Balboa, credited the changing industry dynamics for fostering a fearless new generation. She pointed out that young actors today have access to better training, workshops, and international exposure, which makes them more prepared compared to her early days in the industry.
“When I was starting out, we didn’t have so many resources. We learned on the job, made mistakes, and grew along the way. But today’s actors come in fully ready—whether it’s understanding the camera, dialogue delivery, or improvisation,” she explained.
While acknowledging their confidence, Gupta also appreciates the humility some young actors maintain. She mentioned working with younger co-stars who still look up to senior artists for guidance, striking a balance between self-assuredness and respect for experience.
Neena Gupta continues to remain an inspiration in the industry, seamlessly blending into contemporary roles while embracing new perspectives. As she takes cues from the younger generation, she also proves that learning is a lifelong journey—regardless of age or experience.
