The release of the much-anticipated biographical film Phule, starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa, has been postponed amid controversy regarding caste representation. Originally scheduled to premiere on April 11, 2025, to coincide with the 197th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, the film’s debut has been rescheduled to April 25, 2025.
Phule, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan, portrays the lives of social reformers Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule, pioneers in championing education and equality in 19th-century India. Pratik Gandhi embodies the role of Jyotirao Phule, while Patralekhaa portrays Savitribai Phule.
